Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Art Deco Table Lighter to the 1920s.
In this case, everything is complete and the original cold painted finish is in excellent condition. The purpose of the figure is a novelty table lighter modelled on the infamous figure of the highwayman; Dick Turpin sitting astride his horse. The lighter is housed in between his coat tails which withdrawers. This element would be filled with lighter fuel and struck down the small steel channel just below his elbow producing a spark and igniting the lighter. The figure is mounted onto a polished wooden plinth with its original green baize.
