Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The back plate with pierced foliate scroll work and carved finials to the tripartite top, the base with pierced tracery brackets. Each side carved with gothic cross and the interior lined in a heavyweight red velvet.

Original hand wrought and rivetted iron hinges on which the doors open smoothly.
Pegged and mortice jointed. No significant marks and no repairs or restoration, very minor losses to the tip of the right hand door and stay, and to the side of the central finial but otherwise complete and in superb original condition. The deep fumed oak of excellent colour with medullary rays.

Extremely robust, handsome and practical. I must have taken months to make a piece of this quality.
48 inches high, 17 inches wide max, and 9 inches deep. Interior is 22 inches high and can be shelved.
