The arms sweep down nicely. To the front an sides below the seat has been nicely shaped and detailed.
The chair is then raised on four shaped legs which are raised castors. The chair tilts back and the height of the chair can be altered up and down via a cog below the seat which is marked with the details 'ANGUS LONDON' and 'MFCRD IN U.S.A.' and 'No 8048'. Angus, London was an importer of American furniture, wholesale cabinet makers, desk makers, chair & couch manufacturers and office furniture manufacturers (fl.1879-1960). Angus was born in Scotland in 1847 and spent his early life in the U.S.A. This experience led him to recognise that the manufacture of furniture with American technology and British finishing touches could be a successful venture. In 1879 he established a firm importing American furniture at warehouses at 58 Holborn Viaduct, London, moving the following year to large premises at Wenlock Road, City Road.

This chair would look superb in any room in the home or equally in the office or boardroom. A lovely classic design.
