A wonderful collectors item, this beautiful old Kazak has had a tough life but behind the wear, you can see the pedigree is great. I would date this rug to the mid 19th century, judging by the red wefts and soft, floppy weave. A really great type rarely found on the market today in any condition. Can still serve as floor covering in a guest bedroom or other light traffic area but ideally it would be pinned on your wall and admired. A lot of bang for the buck, as our American cousins put it.
