This Mirror retains its original plate, silver gilding and wooden back.

It has a nice thick frame and is in good condition.

There is one strip of the backboards missing but this does not effect hanging it.

French mirrors from the late 19th century, particularly Louis Philippe influenced designs, typically feature rounded upper corners, refined profiles, and delicate beaded or egg-and-dart moulding along the inner rim.

These frames were crafted from carved pine or lime wood, layered with plaster gesso, and finished with hand-applied silver leaf. The mirror plate was made using silvered or mercury glass.

Authentic period mirrors feature original pine backboards, natural foxing or slight tarnish to the glass reflector, and visible wear or tarnish to the silver leaf exposing underlying gesso.
