Percy Brooke 1869-1916.Landscape artist who painted mainly in watercolours.After studying in London he set up a studio in Blackburn.Also lived at Staithes , which was home to an artists colony in the nineteenth century.Exhibited 1894-1916 at the RA,RBA,Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool.This atmospheric watercolour is a particularly fine example of his work influenced by the Staithes Group of Painters working at this time ‘Awaiting the Return of the Fleet’,possibly Staithes’ signed watercolour,dated 1901,image size 18.5x25.5 cms,framed size 46x56 cms
