Description

A beautiful Norwegian antique solid silver tea strainer. It is hallmarked with the Norwegian 830 standard mark along with the maker being Magnus Aase who operated in Bergen from 1876 to 1953, I would date this piece to c1920s. It has been superbly made being plannished and decorated with flowers. It is in superb condition, having no dings, splits, holes or repairs. It measures approx. 5 inches (13cm) across including the handle and 3 inches (7.4cm) excluding the handle and weighs 42 grams. A beautiful piece.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts silver features hand-hammered surfaces, organic motifs, and visible hand construction designed as a response to industrial mass production.

They were primarily crafted from solid silver, featuring planished textures and hand-chased or repousse decorative details.

Authentic items feature Norwegian silver purity hallmarks, makers marks for Magnus Aase, and characteristic planished surface finishing.

Display the piece on a dining sideboard alongside silver teaware or incorporate it into a curated display tray on a kitchen island.

Wash gently in warm soapy water, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth, and polish periodically using non-abrasive silver cleaner to prevent oxidisation.
