Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mouseman furniture refers to handcrafted English oak items produced by Robert Thompson and his workshop in Kilburn, North Yorkshire, originating in the early 20th century. The style is defined by Arts and Crafts design principles, traditional adzed timber surfaces, and the iconic carved mouse signature.

These stools were constructed from solid English oak, joined using traditional mortise and tenon joinery without metal fixings. Seats were commonly hand-woven using natural rush or thick leather panels set over the frame.

Authentic pieces feature a raised, hand-carved mouse motif integrated directly into the timber frame rather than attached afterwards. Look for hand-adzed tooling marks across the oak surfaces and traditional joinery consistent with Kilburn workshop production methods.

An oak rush stool functions effectively as an occasional seat, side table, or decorative accent alongside modern upholstered furniture. Its natural timber grain and woven texture add organic contrast to contemporary minimalist schemes.

Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and humid environments to prevent the oak from splitting and the rush seat from drying out. Clean the timber with a dry cloth and apply clear beeswax polish occasionally, avoiding liquid cleaners on the woven rush.
