Victorian Walnut Sewing Table

19th century
Description

A beautiful burr walnut sewing table dating from the mid to late 19th century. It has a single fitted drawer above a large silk lined sewing compartment. The drawer comes with a key but please note this does not work but can be used to pull open the otherwise flush drawer.

The table has a beautifully shaped top and stands on spiral twisted legs with scroll feet joined by a spiral stretcher. It is an excellent quality piece and there are small castors below the feet and shaped finials below the top.

The table is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. It is generally clean and tidy throughout and the drawer opens well. There are normal signs of light wear and age, a few minor marks and knocks but no major damages or anything untoward. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
