Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian mahogany centre table is a versatile piece of furniture designed to stand centrally in a hall, drawing room, or library. Typically dating from the 19th century, these tables feature solid or veneered mahogany construction, robust pedestals or trestle supports, and decorative turned or carved cross-stretchers.

Tables from this period feature hand-cut joinery, solid mahogany structural frames, and flame mahogany veneers on top surfaces. Component parts were connected using traditional mortise and tenon joints, supported by turned stretchers and brass castors.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-turned stretchers, natural wood grain variation, and original brass or wooden castors underneath the feet. Secondary woods such as pine or oak are commonly visible on the underside, along with historic tool marks and subtle surface patination.

Position the table in an entryway or living space as a focal point, styled with a contemporary table lamp, ceramic bowl, or stacked art books. Combining rich mahogany tones with modern neutral walls and understated textiles creates an elegant balance of periods.

Dust regularly using a dry, soft lint-free cloth and apply high-quality natural beeswax sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the wood veneer from drying, cracking, or lifting.
