The octagonal-shaped caddy bears the first period Worcester mark on its underside.
The Samson porcelain factory was established by Edmé Samson in Paris in 1845 with the specific purpose of creating high-quality reproductions of ceramics found in museums and private collections. The factory produced exceptional copies of various porcelain styles, including Meissen, Chantilly, Chelsea, Derby, and Chinese porcelain. These reproductions were crafted with such skill that they can be challenging to distinguish from the originals.
At a certain point, Samson's reproductions became highly sought after, with some pieces even surpassing the value of the originals. Today, Samson porcelain is prized for its finely painted and carefully modeled figures, maintaining its reputation among collectors worldwide.
