The bow motif is echoed by the neatly-tied three-dimensional bow which connects the locket to its bail. Both the chain and locket are made in slightly rosy nine-carat gold.

In Victorian England a flying swallow was traditionally considered a token of good luck and the bird represented enduring love and loyalty, as the swallow mates for life. Inside the locket is a pressed four-leaf clover, a traditional token of rare good luck and obviously treasured by its owner.
