Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Nineteenth-century British watercolour landscapes were defined by a movement towards naturalism, atmospheric light, and detailed topographical subjects. Artists frequently documented rural riverscapes, architecture, and coastal towns, encouraged by the rise of topographers and the Royal Watercolour Society.

Artists utilised water-soluble pigments painted onto handmade cotton or linen rag paper. These works were typically protected under glass and presented within gilt composition wood frames featuring intricate foliage or acanthus moulding.

Authentic 19th-century watercolours usually exhibit period-appropriate paper aging, gentle toning, and hand-carved or molded gilt wood frames. Inspecting the mount, paper watermarks, artist signatures, and historical framing labels on the reverse helps confirm authenticity.

Antique watercolours pair effectively with modern interiors when integrated into gallery walls alongside modern prints or displayed singly as a focal point. The warmth of the gilded frame creates a classic contrast against contemporary neutral or dark paint palettes.

Keep watercolours out of direct sunlight to prevent pigment fading and paper degradation. Ensure the artwork is framed using acid-free mounting materials with UV-protective glass, and maintain a stable indoor humidity level.
