The fine wooden case, with its domed top and brass carrying handle, is finished in rich green lacquer and beautifully hand-painted with Chinese chinoiserie scenes, which include people in a wooded landscape with temples, rivers with footbridges, etc.

The clock has a fully hand engraved arched dial with a raised chapter ring with hand engraved Roman numerals and above there is a domed silver roundel which bears the name of the high quality retail jeweller Oddy Wilson of Harrogate who originally sold this clock.

At the rear, there is a hinged door with a brass catch giving access to the English brass eight day movement which has a top escapement with a time adjustment lever. Below there is a knob for altering the position of the hands. And at the bottom a fixed key for winding.

The brass movement is stamped Made in England
