Antique Victorian Carved Oak Captains Library Chair.

A truly impressive antique swivel library chair.

We bring to you this magnificent and elaborately carved Victorian swivel library chair in beautiful condition made from solid Oak around C1880. This very rare and unique chair is made in the regency style with swept arms which are highly embellished with finely carved Oak leaves and grecian key carvings which meet via a turned and carved gallery padded captains back. The chair has a very comfortable round padded seat and the chair rotates effortlessly via its original cast iron ballbearing race which we have made sure operates perfectly with no 'play' in the movement. The chairs base is also a masterpiece which consists of a round moulded frieze to 4 beautifully carved and fluted legs which are elegantly braced by ornate turned and carved stretchers to an overlapped block centre.

The chairs stunning legs terminate to brass castors and the chair is solid with no joint movement.

The chair is very comfortable with its traditional padding under its sumptuous supple full grain tan coloured leather. The leather is beautiful, however, it is used so is not absolutely perfect, however, we can quote for re-upholstering in a material/leather of your choice if required. The chair swivels on its original mechanism which is solid and free moving with no 'play'.

This desk chair has a lovely medium Oak colour and French polished finish. It has previously been restored (not by us), however, we have cleaned, waxed and thoroughly checked this chair over fully to ensure this chair ready for its new home.

The chair would look great in a period library, alongside an antique pedestal desk or as purely a decorative chair in the corner of any room and would be a great addition to any period themed library, office or study.
