Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sorrento ware refers to decorative wooden items and furniture produced in Sorrento, Italy, predominantly during the nineteenth century. The style is characterised by intricate marquetry and intarsia inlay techniques using contrasting local woods.

Craftsmen typically utilised olivewood, walnut, chestnut, and orange wood. Various stained or natural veneers were combined to create complex geometric star patterns and detailed figurative scenes.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut marquetry veneers with slight natural variations, dovetailed or pegged construction details, and aged patination on the turned pedestal and legs.

This type of table serves as a functional accent piece placed at the end of a sofa, beside a reading armchair, or in a decorative alcove to add historic craft detail to contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and moisture to prevent the wood veneers from warping or lifting.
