Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a compact rectangular or oval occasional table introduced in the 18th century, featuring two hinged drop flaps, a frieze drawer, and slim legs. The Sheraton style, popularised by cabinetmaker Thomas Sheraton in the late 18th century, is characterised by lightweight construction, refined geometric marquetry, and tapered legs.

These tables typically utilised timbers such as satinwood, mahogany, and rosewood, accented with kingwood or tulipwood crossbanding. Construction involved hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, veneered surfaces, brass castors, and wooden rule joints supporting the hinged drop flaps.

Authentic pieces feature late 18th-century construction details, such as hand-sawn timber elements, narrow hand-cut dovetails inside drawers, and original brass hardware. Look for geometric oval or fan medallion inlays, fine crossbanding, and slender tapered square legs rather than modern machined joinery.

A Pembroke table functions as an end table beside a sofa, a bedside table, or an accent piece in a hallway alcove. Its folding drop-leaf flaps allow flexible adjustment to suit compact or open-plan room layouts.

Dust regularly with a dry lint-free cloth and keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or timber fading. Apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the timber lustre and protect the crossbanding.
