Dicksee, celebrated for his lifelike animal portrayals, meticulously studied big cats at the London Zoo to achieve remarkable accuracy in his work. A Fellow of the Zoo, his dedication is evident in the power and realism of this etching.
 
The daughter destroyed the engraving plates after his passing.
