Gatsby Jewellery Ltd has dated this Vintage Diamond Solitaire Ring to the 1950s.
The stone is set in a platinum eight-claw rex collet which sits on a slim and tapering 18k white gold shank.

Although IGI have described the cut as Round Brilliant, the diamond has many characteristics of an Old European Cut - slightly smaller table, cut culet, burnished girdle - making this a transitional cut (a very rare cut that bridged old European cut and round brilliant) rather than a modern round brilliant.

Accompanied by a diamond report from IGI.
