The piano shaped fall opens to reveal a 2 drawer satinwood interior and an adjustable pull out writing/reading slope which retains the original gold tooled purple leather writing surface, pen tray, paper clip holder and spaces for ink pots. The panelled front with top quality carved cabriole leg supports resting on a shaped plinth with turned bun feet and hidden castors. The right hand side with 4 mahogany lined drawers all with turned rosewood pulls, brass escutcheons and working locks (with keys). The left side with false drawers and matching turned pulls and escutcheons. The freestanding back with matching panel and applied mouldings. The whole in good ready to use condition with original patina. Davenports of this design are often referred to as Harlequin, Pop up, Piano top, or Jack in the box davenports.
