Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, is a red-tinted glassware produced by adding gold chloride to molten glass. Widely popular during the 19th century in Britain, it was crafted into decorative tableware such as jugs, vases, and sugar bowls.

The glass achieved its characteristic pinkish-red colour through the fusion of gold salts into the glass batch. Vessels were typically hand-blown, frequently fitted with clear applied handles and hand-painted with gilt or enamel scrollwork.

Authentic 19th-century pieces usually show evidence of hand-blown production, including a subtle pontil mark on the base. The colour intensity can vary across the piece, and original hand-applied gilding often demonstrates minor surface rubbing consistent with age.

Position cranberry glass vessels in locations where natural light can pass through the material, such as on window sills or open glass shelves. The deep red tones pair well with dark wood surfaces, polished brass accessories, or neutral ceramic displays.

Clean hand-crafted cranberry glass by hand using lukewarm water and a gentle liquid soap. Avoid abrasive cloths, soaking, or dishwashers, as harsh washing can strip delicate hand-applied gold leaf or enamel details.
