Produced by S. Fielding & Co. at the Devon Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, Crown Devon wares gained widespread popularity during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. Molded botanical forms, particularly leaf-shaped dishes decorated in the blush ivory style with floral transfers and gilding, were popular decorative serving pieces in turn-of-the-century English homes.

These dishes were typically manufactured from earthenware or fine porcelain, cast in molds to create textured foliage patterns and handles. The surface decorations combine polychrome transfer prints, hand-applied enamel highlights, shaded spray finishes, and hand-painted gilded rims.

Authenticity is verified by checking the underside for maker marks, such as the Crown Devon crown emblem, S. Fielding & Co. backstamps, or impressed registration numbers. The characteristic blush ivory ground, shaded peach edges, and fine gilt trim are additional visual markers of original production.
