Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late 19th century, stage magicians and illusionists commissioned large-scale lithographic posters to advertise touring performances across Europe and America. These printed advertisements featured dramatic imagery, vibrant inks, and complex graphic compositions to attract public attention.

Most theatrical posters from this era were produced using stone lithography on thin paper, which was frequently mounted onto linen or canvas backings for durability. Oil-based inks were applied in layered colours, resulting in vivid tones designed to withstand outdoor display.

Authentic period lithographs exhibit dot-free continuous colour tones from stone printing, along with visible printer attributions or street addresses at the margins. Microscopic inspection usually reveals natural paper ageing, edge wear, and original fold lines beneath any canvas backing.

A large-scale theatrical canvas print functions well as a focal statement piece in a study, library, or hallway when displayed in a simple museum-grade frame. Pairing the bold graphic colours with neutral walls and dark timber furniture creates an engaging visual contrast.

To prevent degradation, keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and humid environments, framing it behind UV-filtering glass or acrylic. Ensure non-invasive mounting techniques are used so the paper and backing remain stable over time.
