Victorian Antique Silver Presentation Snuff Box, Edward Smith 1850

Description

A stunning very large Victorian antique silver table snuff box. Made in Birmingham in 1850 by the renouned silver box maker Edward Smith. The box is in excellent condition with no damages or repairs. This snuff box came from the church mentioned in the later 1896 inscription so has great provenance. The inscription on the top relates to North Leith Parish Church in Edinburgh. On all panels there is the most beautiful and intricate engine turning especially on the base. The 23 part hinge is tight and the box closes firmly, the interior is fully gilded and has hallmarks on the lid and base. A very collectable piece.
