Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian country house dining tables were traditionally constructed for functional utility in working kitchens or rural estates. Typically built from native softwoods like pine, they feature sturdy planked tops and straightforward joinery designed for daily domestic use.

These tables were primarily crafted using slow-grown European pine or pitch pine, often assembled with pegged mortise and tenon joints. The tops were frequently constructed from wide timber planks secured with breadboard ends or cleated framing to allow natural wood movement.

Authentic Victorian pine tables often display signs of historical wear, such as surface indentations, uneven patina, and evidence of original hand-planing. Construction details like hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, square or subtly tapered legs, and natural wood shrinkage along the plank seams further confirm age.

A Victorian pine table can be paired with contemporary dining chairs, such as mid-century moulded plastic or sleek metal frames, to create a balanced visual contrast. Placing modern ceramics or a simple linen runner along the surface highlights the natural grain and aged patina within contemporary dining spaces.

Clean the surface regularly using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners. To protect the timber and maintain its lustre, apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year, rubbing along the direction of the wood grain.
