Description

This is an antique embroidered lyre back chair. An English, walnut and needlepoint bedroom or hall seat, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.

Endearing needlepoint covering and a fascinating frame accentuate this fine seat

Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout

Walnut frame presents fine grain interest and rich caramel hues

Traditionally stuffed cushion with embroidered covering

Shaped crest rail with gadrooned finish and flame mahogany frieze

Delightful lyre back splat with flowerhead patera motif

Superb technique to the needlepoint, with a finer thread used for the central interest

Raised upon turned front legs, united to the splayed rear legs with an X-stretcher

This is an appealing antique embroidered lyre back chair, with a superb needlepoint cushion and wonderful Regency craftsmanship to the back rest. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
