An exceptional Chippendale period mahogany collector''s cabinet; the top veneered in carefully chosen Cuban mahogany which is inlaid with a band of alternating ebony and ivory triangles and then strung in boxwood and ebony with an outer featherbanding; the cavetto moulded cornice above a frieze inlaid with chequer stringing in a diamond pattern alternating with ivory diamonds above a pair of cupboard doors which are veneered in flame mahogany and inlaid with feather stringing arranged in a geometric pattern; the doors open to reveal twenty graduated drawers arranged around a central door strung in boxwood to create gothic ogee arch tracery; the door opens to reveal an interior of three shelves which have Chinese Chippendale fretwork galleries. The waist is carved with a gadrooned moulding and the cabinet is raised on powerful square tapering legs terminating in block feet.
