Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian faience pedestals are glazed earthenware columns created during the late nineteenth century, designed to elevate decorative planters, jardinieres, or busts. Emerging from the popularity of majolica and art pottery manufacturers like Woodlesford, these pieces feature rich translucent glazes and relief ornamentation inspired by classical and naturalistic motifs.

These pedestals were crafted using press-moulded earthenware clay that was fired and finished with coloured translucent glazes, such as caramel or amber majolica finishes. The structural design features a capital, twisted shaft, and moulded decorative base designed to support heavy ceramics.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces often display impressed pottery maker marks, registration numbers, or mould codes on the underside of the base or top plate. Additionally, genuine examples feature characteristic glaze pooling within relief details, age-related glaze crazing, and minor firing irregularities typical of period kiln production.

Place a pair of ceramic pedestals in a bay window, entrance hall, or empty corner to frame architectural features and display house plants or contemporary sculpture. The rich caramel tones and structural lines provide contrast against neutral walls and complement traditional botanical arrangements.

Clean glazed ceramics using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfibre cloth without abrasive cleaning agents. Avoid exposing earthenware to extreme temperature fluctuations or moisture, as trapped water can cause structural micro-cracking and damage to the glaze.
