A very fine early 19th Century Irish giltwood overmantel mirror of grand proportions, stunningly hand carved and of exceptional quality. The original mirror glass plate with some mottling of rectangular form is set within a gorgeous moulded and fluted giltwood frame surmounted with a fabulous centred crest composition of an armorial shield, berries, acorns and leaves and scrolling foliate flanked with richly trailing acanthus leaves and scrolls to each top corner return, finely hand carved in high relief. Supported on shaped platform base with a further gorgeous arrangement of scrolling acanthus leaves to each side.
