Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These lighting pieces feature sculpted ceramic figures, often depicting traditional deities or cultural figures, adapted or produced as table lamps during the early 20th century. They reflect the enduring influence of Chinoiserie in Western decorative interiors.

The main structure consists of hand-moulded ceramic or porcelain finished with pigmented lead glazes, such as turquoise. The figure is mounted on a metal base, typically cast brass or bronze, which houses the internal wiring and shade mount.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-moulded details, subtle variation or fine craze lines within the glaze, and natural patination on the metal bases. Examining unglazed areas beneath the base or internal fitting apertures can reveal historic porcelain firing methods.

Positioning a symmetrical pair on a console table or sideboard provides balanced visual height and vibrant colour contrast. Combining them with contemporary pleated or plain silk lampshades bridges traditional sculpture with modern decorative schemes.

Dust the porcelain figures regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft bristles brush. Avoid abrasive cleaning agents or immersing metal fittings in water to preserve both glaze integrity and metal finish.
