Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Demilune console tables originated in eighteenth-century Europe, featuring a semi-circular footprint designed to fit flush against walls or in narrow corridors. Popularised during the Neoclassical, Regency, and Empire periods, they were frequently placed in foyers or grand drawing rooms to display decorative arts.

Tables from this period typically feature dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, frequently accented with figured veneers. Surfacing often incorporates shaped marble slabs, while lower legs and terminal feet commonly utilise cast bronze or brass fittings.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved joinery underneath the apron, naturally aged patina on timber surfaces, and slight irregularities in metal sabots. The marble tops often show hand-cut underside bevels and evidence of historical hand-polishing rather than uniform modern machine cuts.

Positioning a matching pair symmetrically on either side of a doorway, fireplace, or large architectural mirror creates structure and balance. Pair with low-profile modern table lamps or contemporary wall sconces to highlight the contrast between rich mahogany grain and stone textures.

Clean marble tops using a soft cloth dampened with pH-neutral stone cleaner, avoiding acidic substances like lemon juice or vinegar. Protect wood aprons and legs by applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources.
