Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Japanese Meiji period cloisonne refers to enamel metalwork produced between 1868 and 1912, a golden age when artisans perfected intricate wirework techniques and smooth, glass-like enamel finishes on decorative vessels.

Craftsmen attached delicate metal wires, known as cloisons, onto a copper or bronze base to outline intricate designs. These compartments were filled with coloured vitreous enamel pastes, fired multiple times, and polished to a smooth finish.

Authentic pieces typically feature exceptionally thin copper or silver wiring, precise enamel application without air bubbles, realistic floral or animal motifs, and dark or mirror-like background enamels.

Small enamel jars and pots work as accent pieces on bookshelves, mantels, or sideboards, contrasting well with polished wood, stone surfaces, or minimal contemporary backdrops.

Dust gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth, and avoid moisture, chemical cleaners, or harsh abrasives which can damage the delicate metal wires or pit the enamel surface.
