A very fine pair of early 20th Century marble top giltwood console tables, superbly hand carved and of exceptional quality. The gorgeous, moulded cream and gold Calcutta serpentine marble top of rectangular form with canted corners is raised over shaped frieze with a stunning centred arrangement of a cartouche with beaded row border flanked with graceful trailing foliate, scrolls, flowerheads and acanthus leaf motif detail throughout. Supported on elegantly, tapering and moulded cabriole legs with fabulously carved cabochon, scrolls, foliate and acanthus leaves on knee, united by decorative scrolled X-form stretcher with a beautiful stylised shell motif to the centre finely carved in high relief, terminating on whorl foot.
