The maiden is elegantly posed in soft draped garments, while the cherub, symbolising innocence, holds a rose as he plays beside her.
The base bears the impressed “Amphora” mark, a crown, and the pattern number 1027. Although the RSt&K mark has been erased, its original placement remains visible in the photographs.
Alfred Stellmacher developed ivory porcelain in the 1870s, celebrated for its soft yellowish tone and matte finish, which allowed for intricate modelling and design. Amphora, founded in 1892 by Riessner, Stellmacher, and Kessel (RSt&K), became renowned for producing luxury Art Nouveau porcelain and received numerous awards, including the Gold Medal at the 1889 Paris Exhibition and accolades at the 1893 Columbian Exposition.
