Brass Lantern, Centre Light

1900 - 1920
Description

A Brass Lantern or Centre Light.

With a bell shaped rose holding a hanging loop and from which flow three downward and outward sweeping arms, finished with rounded knopped centres, and meeting the body of the lantern. The hexagonal lantern with ogee and reeded arched panels holding the glazing. The corners with orb finials, and one panel hinging open as a door, to allow access to the three light central boss, the branches ringed and finished with orb terminals, holding the dish and stepped drip pans. The boss held by the rope twist column emerging from the boss. The corners of the underside of the lantern finished with orb finials.

Date circa 1900.

Height 22 1/2 inches, 57cm.
