19th Century English Regency Rosewood Centre Table
£2,950 $3,737 €3,549
An Early 19th Century English Regency Rosewood Breakfast or Centre Table with Detailed Brass Inlay.
Veneered in particularly curly grained rosewood of very attractive colour. Having a quadripartite platform base with four hipped legs and paw form castors. The frieze of the platform, the base of the tapering column support above and the table top are all finely inlaid with brass in repeating floral motifs featuring stylised anthemions, one of the most popular motifs during the regency period with furniture designers and architects alike. There is also brass stringing inlaid in to the legs. The half round carved and beaded mouldings on the column support are highly reminiscent of those used by Gillows and it is quite likely that this piece was produced in their workshops.
This lovely table has survived in excellent condition and is a highly attractive and practical piece of furniture.
