A very fine 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and with a central shell cartouche. The shaped mirror glass plate is set within a superbly hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame adorned throughout with elegant bands of beaded row, egg and dart detail. Surmounted with an elaborate pierced centred cartouche composition comprising of an arrangement of a centred shell flanked with exquisitely detailed flowerhead, trailing foliate and richly scrolling acanthus leaf motif detail, exquisitely hand carved in high relief.
