A fabulous 19th Century giltwood margin hall mirror or overmantel mirror, finely hand carved and of exceptional quality. The central mirror glass plate of rectangular form is bordered with an additional set of four glass plates set within a stunning moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous beaded row, foliate, egg and dart motifs throughout. Surmounted with an intricate pierced centred cartouche composition comprising of an arrangement of a scallop shell, cabochons, lattice work, scrolls and foliate flanked with exquisitely detailed flowerheads, berries and richly trailing acanthus leaf motif detail, elaborately hand carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base with a further arrangement of elegantly scrolling acanthus leaves to each side.
