Description

Dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian era, this fabulous pair of letter scales have the most wonderful complete set of bell - shaped weights, amazing to find them all intact, they are so easily lost over 100 year period.

The base is made from solid Mahogany and stands on four turned bun feet. The balance is made from brass and signed B W B over W, which I am unfamiliar with, undoubtedly made in one of the Birmingham foundries.

The right-hand pan is engraved with the rates of the day which allows us to accurately date these to post 1897 which is when these rates were introduced.

A wonderful set in superb condition, measuring 9 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 4" tall.
