English Victorian Oak & Silver Plated Double Tea Caddy - Dated 1881

Description

A stunning antique tea caddy made from solid English Oak and paired with silver plate fittings and hinged lid.

This was a gift in the year 1881 and presented to somebody with the initials HFH (I think), the decorative monogram can be seen in the photographs, underneath the engraving continues " With The Best Wishes Of The Navvies " (Eccup. Aug 1881).

Outside of this cartouche, the lid is beautifully decorated intricate engraving. The silver plated fittings are beautiful including four bun feet, a swing handle to each side and an escutcheon to the front (alas, no key).

The interior has the original two oak lids covering the two tea compartments, one for green tea, the other for black tea.

Excellent condition, measuring 8 1/2" wide (foot to foot) x 5 1/4" deep (foot to foot) x 4 3/4" tall.
