This jewel like but time consuming technique continues on the exterior of the container upon which the artist has built up further layers of mixed lacquers to produce a continuous scene of sprigs of crysanthemums, using a variety of lacquer techniques and tones, the lid is further decorated with sprays of native flora, this pattern match is only possible by aligning the compartments in the correct order.
