Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A lowboy is an 18th-century small table or chest with drawers, designed primarily during the Georgian period as a dressing table or side desk, typically featuring a shaped apron and three drawers.

Traditional 18th-century lowboys are constructed from solid native oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, solid oak drawer linings, brass drop or swan-neck handles, and mortise and tenon leg joinery.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-planed surfaces, hand-sawn timber markings, hand-cut dovetails on drawer construction, shrinkage across timber grain, and natural patination on brass hardware and woodwork.

An oak lowboy serves as a functional entryway console table, a compact home office writing desk, or a bedroom dressing table when paired with a modern mirror and understated brass lighting.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and apply beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and severe humidity fluctuations to prevent warping.
