A lovely 19th century mahogany snuff shoe box. This is a very good quality snuff shoe inlaid with brass diamonds and hearts, symbols of love and hence probably made as a love token or given as a wedding gift. Shoes were associated with luck and snuff shoes can be found with ''Love'' or ''My only love'' on confirming this link.
This snuff shoe measures 8.2cm in length.
