Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian jewellery, originating between 1901 and 1915, is characterised by light, airy, and lace-like designs. Craftsmen frequently used garland, ribbon, and bow motifs alongside platinum and gold settings to highlight brilliant diamonds and soft natural pearls.

Pieces from this era typically featured platinum or gold, with platinum often layered over gold to strength fine wirework without adding weight. Craftsmen utilized millegrain edging, hand-pierced filigree, and claw settings to secure pearls and hand-cut diamonds.

Authentic items show signs of hand-finishing, such as delicate millegrain detailing around metal edges and hand-cut diamonds like old European or rose cuts. Hallmarks on gold or platinum mounts, alongside convertible mechanisms for pendants, also signal period authenticity.

A convertible piece can be worn as a central pendant on a fine gold chain for formal occasions or pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer for everyday wear. It can also secure a silk scarf or attach to a velvet ribbon choker.

Clean gently with a soft dry cloth and avoid submersing pearls in water or liquid cleaners, as moisture weakens natural nacre and silk threads. Store the piece flat in a fabric-lined box away from direct sunlight and harsher gemstones.
