Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh was a premier Scottish furniture maker active from the nineteenth century until the early twenty-first century. The firm was renowned for high-grade craftsmanship, frequently collaborating with architect Sir Robert Lorimer to produce refined Arts and Crafts and classical furniture.

These cabinets were constructed using high-grade hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and oak. Key features include quarter-sawn or book-matched veneers, solid wood carcasses, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, and custom brass hardware.

Authentic pieces often feature a stamped makers mark or paper label reading Whytock & Reid Edinburgh inside drawers or on the back panel. Distinctive design traits include Lorimer-style pad feet, subtle reeding, and precise veneer selection.

Place the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight the timber grain, or use it as a functional bar cabinet or hallway storage unit. Combining warm timber tones with contemporary lighting or metal accents creates a balanced, layered design scheme.

Maintain the cabinet by dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying beeswax annually along the grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp conditions to prevent timber movement, cracking, or veneer lifting.
