An exceptionally fine quality Regency rectangular shaped antique tray top work table by Gillows of Lancaster & London. The figured mahogany top is framed with a carved ''C'' scroll design gallery and the frieze has beaded moulding with two concealed mahogany lined drawers to either side.
The table has two turned supports with double columns terminating to cabriole legs stood on original brass castors with central turned stretcher.
There is a pull out section to the frieze which was standard in this model of table for a work box to be added, however this table has never had one. The nice size of this table means it can be accommodated in most homes and used as a side table.
The table retains its original finish which has been cleaned and waxed.
A similar example of this table can be found in the Gillows of Lancaster & London book 1730 - 1840 by Susan E Stuart. Plate GG36
