A rare sculpture maquette of an African elephant by the wildlife artist Terry Owen Matthews, from which the bronze casts were later retailed by Roland Ward in their London showrooms in the 1960’s.

This is a scarce early handmade maquette having glass eyes and realistically painted by the artist, and is signed on the base.

It is in great condition, of great size, with just a small chip to the tip of one of the carved wooden tusks.
