John Howkins Antiques has dated this Gillows Flame Mahogany Teapoy to the 19th Century.
Below is a Bombe shaped storage area which retains some of the original foil lining. The frieze has applied egg and dart moulding. Below is an acanthus carved collar which leads to the wonderful carved base with double carved “S” shaped supports with “C” scrolls and joined to a circular platform with carved finial and the whole raised on brass casters. Condition- Stamped Gillows and 8472 to base, In original untouched condition. Dimensions:- Height…29.5’’/ 75cm. Width & Diameter…21’’/ 53cm.
