Fine Gillows 8472 Flame Mahogany Tea Poy

Description

A superb and top quality Gillows stamped mahogany teapoy of octagonal form and crafted from the finest figured mahogany. The top having an acanthus carved edge with book matched veneers both inside and out which opens to a pair of removable tea caddies with swan neck handles. Below is a Bombe shaped storage area which retains some of the original foil lining. The frieze has applied egg and dart moulding. Below is an acanthus carved collar which leads to the wonderful carved base with double carved “S” shaped supports with “C” scrolls and joined to a circular platform with carved finial and the whole raised on brass casters. Condition- Stamped Gillows and 8472 to base, In original untouched condition. Dimensions:- Height…29.5’’/ 75cm. Width & Diameter…21’’/ 53cm.
