The surface is hand-painted with colorful floral decorations, depicting a central vase surrounded by stylized flowers, leaves, and Chinese-inspired elements.

This dessert centerpiece is part of a dessert set produced by Mason's between 1818 and 1825 (see ‘Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares,’ plate 181).
Founded by Miles Mason in 1796, Mason's Company became renowned for its Ironstone China, a durable and affordable alternative to porcelain. Patented in 1813, Ironstone revolutionized British ceramics with its strength and versatility. Mason's products featuring Oriental themes were significantly cheaper than imported Chinese porcelain, making them highly sought after and in great demand during the Regency era. Today, these pieces remain popular with collectors for their beauty, craftsmanship, and historical significance.
