This charming oil painting by Bruges artist Albert Demoen captures the warmth of a rustic interior. A smouldering fire glows softly in an inglenook fireplace, with orange embers and gentle wisps of smoke creating a soothing ambiance. The dark green mantle and door add depth, while the mantlepiece features well executed plates and a copper jug hanging nearby.

Demoen was born in the Bruges area in 1916 and lived from 1985 until his death in Loppem on the grounds of the Castle at Loppem.
